WEST BLADEN
CAMDEN-The number-two seeded Camden County Bruins swept the 31st-seeded West Bladen Lady Knights for a 3-0 victory in the NCHSAA 2A State playoffs on Saturday.
The Bruins took the first set by a score of 25-15, they took the second set by a score of 25-14, and the final set concluded at 25-7. Camden County junior Aaliyah Anderson led her team with 27 attacks, 16 kills and three service points.
West Bladen senior Trinity Meares led the way for her team with 10 attacks, four kills, two digs and a block. Fellow senior Keira Lewis also had four kills in the match and she is credited with five blocks. Camden County advanced to the second round with the victory and they’ll host the 15th-seeded Holmes Aces.
The Lady Knights concluded their season at 11-12 and they finished third in the SAC 6 with a record of 6-4. They improved on last season’s record of 5-14 and made it to their first playoff appearance since the 2016/17 season. The Lady Knights will lose four seniors in Jenna McLean, Maddie Walters, Lewis, and Meares.
EAST BLADEN
CREEDMOOR—The number-one seeded Falls Lake Firebirds swept the 32nd-seeded East Bladen Lady Eagles for a 3-0 victory in the first round of the NCHSAA 1A State playoffs on Saturday. Falls Lake advances to the next round after the victory and they’ll host the 16th-seeded Northside-Pinetown Panthers in their next match.
East Bladen concluded their season with an overall record of 4-17 and they finished sixth in the Waccamaw Conference after going 2-10. The Lady Eagles will lose five seniors in Rylee Brice, Molly Evens, Karley Ross, Zoe Smith, and Dyiamon Robinson.
