DUBLIN — Cape Fear Farm Credit will be honored with its name on the auditorium lobby at Bladen Community College.

Trustees in Tuesday night’s meeting supported the measure. Hayes Petteway, chairman of the Fiscal Affairs Committee, said the action meets all requirements of the college’s naming guidelines.

The agriculture lending cooperative recently provided a $30,000 donation to the college that will be used to build a greenhouse. President Dr. Amanda Lee said the educational experience of agribusiness technology students will be greatly enhanced.

“The Fiscal Committee discussed the opportunity for naming the lobby of the auditorium as a thank you,” Petteway said. “It meets all the criteria for the naming rights.”

The board was shown a video about the greenhouse project. It includes comments from Jon Pope, the board chairman of Cape Fear Farm Credit in 2020; Evan Kleinhans, the CEO of the cooperative; and Lee.

The auditorium is annually the site for college graduation and has a lobby of roughly 900 square feet. Recent improvements have been made to the restrooms. It is also a central gathering place used for a number of community functions.
