FAYETTEVILLE (WNCN) — Two men were apprehended Wednesday night connection with a shooting and robbery at a Subway restaurant in Fayetteville earlier this month, police say.

Few details were available on Wednesday night, but police told WNCN that two men, ages 26 and 21, were charged in the incident, in which a worker at the restaurant was shot.

Police said that Keylen Young is charged with attempted murder in the robbery on Nov 6. The other suspect’s name was not immediately available.

Police responded to the Subway located at 9541 Cliffdale Road at approximately 10 p.m. that night in reference to a report of a robbery and shooting.

A preliminary investigation shows that the male suspect waited outside the back of the restaurant and waited until an employee went out the back door in order to get in. Once an employee did open the back door, the suspect shot the employee and went into the store and stole the cash box.

The suspect fled out the front door and across the parking lot on foot toward the IHOP located nearby, police said.

The 21-year-old Subway worker from Wendell is being treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie with the hood pulled tightly around his face, a blue mask, dark pants and light shoes.

The victim was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
