ELIZABETHTOWN — The East Bladen Eagles defeated the East Columbus Gators for a 4-1 victory on Monday in a Waccamaw Conference match-up.
East Bladen sophomore forward Tevin McClean scored a hat-trick in the first half to give the host an early advantage. He scored two goals within a four minute span after getting the better of the Gators keeper in one-on-one situations.
McClean scored his third goal after receiving the feed from his striking partner Gabril Algozy with a low and hard finish in the back of the net.
The Gators scored in the second half on an intercepted pass from the backline that was slotted in the back of the net. Despite the mishap, the Eagles controlled most of the possession and outshot their opponents 36-3 for the entire game.
The Eagles were awarded a penalty in the second half after senior midfielder Jamie Delgado was brought down in the box.
Junior Fernando Rebollar stepped up to the spot and slotted the penalty into the back of the net to seal the win. East Bladen moved to 2-0 in conference play as of Monday and went to 4-3 overall.
