ELIZABETHTOWN — East Bladen senior midfielder Jamie Delgado received the Waccamaw Conference Co-Player of the Year alongside Pender junior midfielder Aiden Ross.
Delgado concluded his senior season with 31 assists and 14 goals as the Eagles went on to finish in second place in the Waccamaw with a record of 10-2. Ross led the Waccamaw Conference with 30 goals, while bagging 26 assists, and he had 86 statistical points to help his team to an undefeated 12-0 record in conference play.
East Bladen had five more names included in the All-Conference list–senior keeper Lee Barnes, senior defender Zac Metz, junior forward Chace Butler, junior keeper Fernando Rebollar, and sophomore forward Tevin McClean. The Eagles goalkeeper tandem of Barnes and Rebollar combined for eight shutout victories during the season as the last line of defense for their team. Barnes averaged 4.2 saves per match and Rebollar averaged around 3.8 saves per game.
Metz is an athletic defender that is capable of getting forward in attacking areas to create chances in the box for his forwards upfront. His constant workrate down the flank is the reason why he finished the year with 425 steals and he had the fourth most assists on the Eagles this season with five. Butler shared the left flank with Metz at times and the two would cause their opposing defenders plenty of headaches.
Butler’s main attribute is his speed and his willingness to take defenders on 1v1 is the reason why he finished the year with 15 goal involvements(8 g, 7 a). McClean poaching abilities in the box and his speedy burst on the ball made him a threat upfront for the Eagles. He finished his sophomore season with a team high of 21 goals and racked up 42 statistical points.
