ELIZABETHTOWN — A new business in Elizabethtown has you covered.

On Tuesday, Do It Right Carpet & Flooring, located at 210 Peanut Plant Road, held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the grand opening of the new business.

Jeff Pope and his wife Chris grew up in Bladen County and previously owned a carpet store in Fayetteville. They decided to move back to Bladen County because of the atmosphere for business.

“Elizabethtown just really supports mom-and-pop type stores,” Jeff commented after the ribbon-cutting. “Big cities have to compete with big box stores, but the people here seem to favor and support locally owned businesses. That’s the main reason we decided to make the move.”

Now that they’ve settled in White Lake, the couple will be busy with floors. The store will have everything from carpet and hardwood to tile and vinyl flooring.

“If you can cover a floor with it, we can do it,” Jeff remarked. “What makes us stand out, though, is our pricing. You go to a big store, and you may be able to get a floor for $40 a month for several years, but you’re ultimately paying a lot of money.”

Town staff, Chamber of Commerce representatives, and elected officials were on hand to welcome the new business owners to the area.

“We’re so glad you’re here,” Elizabethtown Mayor Sylvia Campbell remarked, adding her own experiences buying carpet and noting her desire to buy locally.

Do It Right Carpet & Flooring is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. It is located in the old Bladen Carpet building, but is unaffiliated with the former business.

The company can be reached during business hours at 910-862-3728.
