ELIZABETHTOWN — The East Bladen Eagles will participate in this year’s “Terry Sanford Bulldog Easter Tournament” on Monday against Western Harnett. It will be three days of baseball hosted by Terry Sanford and there will be eight teams from across the region participating. The first game will be played at 10 a.m., following a 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. match-ups featuring South View, Pinecrest, Terry Sanford, Midway, Richmond, Wayne Country Day, Western Harnett, and East Bladen High Schools.

The Eagles will get a chance to test their abilities in the late game against a 5-12 Western Harnett squad. The winner of game four will advance Tuesday to play either Wayne Country Day or Richmond pending the results. There will be a losers bracket as well with the loser of games 1 and 2 facing off at 10 a.m. starting Tuesday. The first pitch for the loser of games 3 and 4 will be at 1 p.m.

The winners’ bracket will proceed at 4 p.m. with the winners of games 1 and 2 going at it to decide who advances to the championship round on Wednesday. The winners of games 3 and 4 will be in the final game of the day at 7 p.m. First and second will be determined on Wednesday at 7 p.m. after the last round of games settle the placing. Richmond was crowned champions of the last season’s tournament with a convincing 13-1 victory over Pinecrest. The weather played a factor in last year’s tournament but this year’s is forecasted with clear skies and sun.
