Here is the Bladen County sports schedule for April 20-24. The schedule is subject to change.

Ed Camp was finishing up a round of golf near his New Jersey home when he received the news that his high school basketball coach, Ken Cross, had died.

RED SPRINGS — The West Bladen baseball, softball and girls’ soccer teams completed a sweep of Red Springs on Friday in Southeastern Conference contests. The three teams also defeated the Red Devils in Bladenboro on Tuesday.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Gabby Rebollar scored twice and had an assist Thursday night as East Bladen shut out North Duplin 3-0 in a Carolina Conference match.

DEEP RUN — Julius Battle won the triple jump and a pair of relay teams crossed the finish line first Thursday in leading the East Bladen boys’ track and field team to a victory in the seven-team ECC meet at South Lenoir High School.

RED SPRINGS — The West Bladen track and field team had a first place finish, eight second places and five thirds Wednesday in the weekly Southeastern Conference meet.

BLADENBORO — The midseason slump appears to be over for the West Bladen baseball team.

BLADENBORO — Allison Hickman dominated in the circle and sparked the West Bladen offense Tuesday night. It resulted in a 13-3 win against Red Springs in a Southeastern Conference high school softball game.

BLADENBORO — Greer Pope converted a penalty kick in the second overtime as West Bladen defeated Red Springs 2-1 on Tuesday night in a Southeastern Conference girls’ soccer match.

Former Bladen County high school basketball coach Ken F. Cross died Monday, April 13. He was 82 and living at White Lake.

Andrew Wren of West Bladen placed third Monday in the Southeastern Conference boys’ golf match played at Diamondback Golf Club in Loris, South Carolina.
